Todd and I rented this movie the other night, I am sure many of you have already seen it...I loved it! Such a sweet and inspiring story, made even better because it is true.
Really makes me think of what ways can I help someone else and get my kids involved in helping others as well.

Hamburgers
Pin It
I don't make them often.
However, there is something about firing up the grill for the first time of the season that feels great!
Tonight I added an egg, a little garlic, onion, salt, pepper, greek seasoning, and feta cheese to our burgers and grilled those puppies! Topped them with a little more feta crumbles and a few green olives. Delish!
Fresh corn on the cob would have been perfect...but soon enough it will be time for that too.
I plan to fully cherish every second of warm weather. I LOVE Autumn...adore it...really REALLY like it! But I am a little ashamed to admit that Spring is catching up to Autumn as my favorite season. The air smells good! The trees are budding and the world is coming alive again...neighbors are emerging from their houses...it's good.

A Couch
Pin It
Sorry, but right now this is the biggest thing going in my life. We finally picked out a couch!
Pathetic. I know.
But it is what it is, as they say!
Anyway, it's a soft brown...and hopefully DURABLE leather...and I am really excited about it.
Also, I cannot wait to show you pictures of the new island that Todd made for my kitchen! Yes. I said Todd MADE me an island! I am so proud of him!
This weekend, I am soooo happy to be heading away for a girls weekend with my friend Danielle! While there we are going to be ironing out the details on a new sewing business venture. Hopefully, I will have more news on Monday...stay tuned!
Oh and I forgot to tell you about church this week. I found it really encouraging and straight to the point!
The verse was:
8Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
I have been reminding myself everday, that I am complete in him! Not complete in my house, not complete in my business, not complete in my possesions, not complete in my government...but COMPLETE IN HIM! Oh how liberating!

Ikea
Pin It
Thanks to my sweet sisters, who watched the kids yesterday, Todd and I went to Ikea! Let me tell you, you can shop (and spend) alot more in that store when you are not breaking up fights, constantly telling kids to stop running, etc...
We joked that it cost us $100 an hour to be in the store and I won't tell you how many hours we were there! lol
We did get a new chair for the living room...$199, not a bad deal at all! We also got new lighting for the kitchen, which I am really excited about...now just have to talk someone who knows something about electricity to put them up for me. It was a hard choice, we are limited in where we can put lights on our kitchen ceiling. I hope I chose well! You know how sometimes you LOVE something in the store and just not so much once you get it home? I don't want that to happen with the new lights!
Todd wanted a one of these type chairs! I have to agree with him, they are super comfy and we termed them "bouncy chairs for adults". lol The only thing that would make them complete is a bar that comes over...only instead of brightly colors toys, like a baby bouncy chair...a small tv would work nicely! hee hee
But alas, the style just does NOT suite our house at all, so we passed...for now.

Toy Shelving
Pin It
Toys.
Why are they so hard to organize and store? The little parts...the parts that are too big for a tote or bin...
But this little cube thingy shelving system we got this weekend might be the most organized I will ever be able to get the toys! lol So far, I love it!
Our old toy shelves have been promoted, or maybe demoted, to my fabric storage shelves. Pictures of that will come later, when I get my sewing area completely finished!
So for now, here are the new toy shelves...please ignore the area of the wall that needs repainted...that area USED to be hidden by the old shelfs and armoire. My husband, the painter, clearly hurries the free paint jobs. Gotta love him though!!
And...sigh...I can't even really complain about the toys all that much because I know all too soon they will be replaced by cell phones and Ipods.

Church this morning...
Today my pastor preached a message that made me think about alot of things! The message was titled "Analyis of a Turnaround" and he used these verses:
20 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:
21 and thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
23 ¶ Then shall he give the rain of thy seed, that thou shalt sow the ground withal; and bread of the increase of the earth, and it shall be fat and plenteous: in that day shall thy cattle feed in large pastures.
His message made me realize that the biggest thing in my life that could use a turnaroud...is my attitude! I am not facing an overwhelming financial situation or a family situation that needs a turnaround, my life is really very happy and good. My attitude towards some things that happen in my life though...well, it could be alot more upbeat, positive, and accepting!
So, that is my prayer for myself this week. I want to be an encouraging and uplifiting person to others.

Song of the week & weekend projects

I am a little ashamed to admit that every member of my family sings along when this comes on the radio...yes even Todd...
If he knows I told you, he will kill me!
Party In The Usa - CLICK HERE
We have been busy organizing our den this weekend! This room serves alot of purposes in our small house. It's the playroom, the computer room, and now my sewing area. For over two years all my sewing has taken place in my mom's amazing sewing room. But sometimes it is just hard to make the 7 minute drive over to her house...lol
My mom was kind enough to let me bring an extra sewing machine a serger over to my house, hopefully this will enable me to get more work done!
Soooo....all new shelving for the kids toys has been put in and my sewing area is pretty much ready to go.
I will post pictures when it is completely finished.

Sprucing...and a couch
Pin It
With spring almost upon us, I am feeling that urge to spruce things up around the house a little!
Of course for us, like most of you, funds are tight! So it will have to be "sprucing on a dime". LOL But that's ok! I am up for the challenge and excited about trying some new projects.
One thing that can really not be done on a dime is buying new living room furniture. I have debated and debated with myself about if we should buy a new couch or save the money...and if we buy a new couch which kind should we buy?! Our last couch looked terrible after about 3 years and we have been living with slipcovers for the last 3 years. I dislike slipcovers...really...alot. Oh, if I could have all that time back that I have spent tucking in slipcovers!
I have been hoarding the money we were given as Christmas gifts and I think I will buy a couch! Now I get to drive my husband crazy as I try to decide which one...muhahaha.

The next launch for DillyDally is called "Springtime In...", we were challenged to pick a city or location and design a springtime set inspired by that place.
Tattered Tulips will be having two sets for the launch and our first is a fun little set called "springtime in the farm". I love comfy, fun outfits like this that can be thrown on easily for any day of the spring or summer, yet she will still turn heads!
Here is a sneak peek!
