Hello Kitty Geek Chic

I admit, it's been a challenge for me to juggle my kids being home on summer vacation and my sewing.

I was able to get one set finished though. It's back to school with a twist, Hello Kitty loves nerds.

We had a lot of fun with the modeling on this set, Evie was digging the glasses!

Our Weekend

My in-laws have been married for 40 years, this month!

As our gift to them, Todd's brother organized the whole family to get together for a professional picture that they can hang on their wall. It took a little work for 3 families, in 3 different states to get there on the same weekend...but we made it work! After the pictures we all went out for dinner, I know his parents had a great time and really appreciated it!

Here were a few pictures that I snapped after the photographer was finished with the group portrait. I have to say that after seeing the professional in action I am motivated to take some classes and get some new equipment for my camera!

Covering a Lampshade

Awhile back I fell in love with a lampshade covered in script fabric. I promptly ordered some of the fabric from Etsy! When it arrived, I promptly put it in a drawer...where it has sat for almost 6 months.

Today I was determined to recover my lampshade! I bought some spray adhesive and got to work...only to discover that I didn't have enough fabric.

I dug out a different fabric from my stash and decided to experiment anyway.

I do like this fabric covered lampshade better than plain cream, however I don't love the fabric combined with the lamp base...I plan to order more script fabric. I'd also like to repaint the lamp white. Hopefully, by this time next year I will have this little project finished...baby steps.
