Saying Goodbye...

Pshew! I guess saying goodbye to this house is not as easy as I thought it would be.  :(

My friends and family know that I am not one to hang on to "things"...the memories just aren't in the things for me, I can let them go.   Buuuut, it is breaking my heart to say goodbye to the house where my kids went from this:

To this:
I know this is a sappy love song, but it came to my mind the other day while packing.  Our closing is today, I know the future is really exciting for us!  I AM ready to move forward, just a lot sad to say goodbye.

Disney Art

It's no secret that we are huge Walt Disney World fans around here!  Say what you will about Disney, commercialism...blah...blah....we have a blast together as a family there and we love it.

All around the Magic Kingdom they have these amazing vintage posters that I have always loved!  They even have a few locations where they sell posters...however the cheapest ones are $22 and the smallest size is 16x20. A little too big and a lot over my budget!

I have always thought it would be fun to buy posters of our favorites rides and display them somewhere in the house...maybe the playroom or den?  I dunno, I'll worry about that later!  Today I ordered these smaller (12x18) posters off eBay for $5.95 each!  Much better size and price.

Can you guess which of these rides is MY favorite?!

The Lord Willing...

I haven't been around much because I've worried that sharing what is going on in my life would "jinx" me and stop the chain of events that have been happening.  However, all along the process, I have been praying that God's will would happen for us.   I decided it was time for a blog update and if something changes, I feel confident it is God keeping his hand on us.

Our house DID sell to the person who saw it on the second showing!  We close next Monday.  I have to admit it is the most bittersweet thing I think I have ever been through.  I cried the whole last day before we started putting our stuff into storage.

We built the house we currently live in 13 years ago and I said I would NEVER do it again.  However, here we are again, building a house.  After looking for months and not finding anything that knocked our socks off, we stumbled across a chance to afford a house in a neighborhood that we had never even considered...because it was definitely out of our budget.  However, there were not many lots left and we had to move quickly!

Soo.......the Lord willing...this is the foundation to our new house!  Hopefully it will be finished in a few months and in the meantime we are putting our stuff in storage and bunking with my parents/sisters.  One big slumber party!

Somewhere in all of this, we snuck in a vacation.  Our trip to Disney was booked looooong before we had any idea we would be moving.  There are so many favorite pictures, but I really love this one.  Evie had no interest in meeting the princesses, but I went ahead and booked a Princess dinner anyway and she was so excited once we actually got there.  She asked me to take her to meet Rapunzel and I jumped at the chance to grab one of those fleeting moments of little girlhood before tweenhood rears it's ugly head!  Here she is twirling for Rapunzel.

Harajuku Hula

Many of the custom boutique designers have come together for a big launch on Facebook...that will take place tonight!  Last time I checked there were over 220 new designs to purchase.

I designed a little Harajuku hula girl dress.  I will be offering this 3 piece set in sizes 2-8.  If you are not a member of my mailing list, please join!  Later today I will email a full peek of my set!  (I put a place to sign up for emails at the bottom of this post.)

For now here is a small peek

This set is a remake of one I made 3 years ago!  I came across these pictures when I was working on the set...I can't believe how fast times goes by and how quickly they grow!

Keep your fingers crossed

Well, our house is finally listed!  Please keep all your fingers and toes crossed that we get an offer.

It feels like it took forever to get us to this point, we have been working really hard over  the last 6 weeks.  Here are some the things we did to try and spruce things up!  (If you click here you can see things how they were before)

Not to mention the things I did not take pictures of....like cleaning out every single closet and drawer in the entire house, removing our den in the garage, putting in new satin lever door handles, taking down our swing set, and re-painting all the trim/doors!  However, everything looks really nice in person and at the very least I am enjoying how clean the house feels!

In the kitchen, we added a stainless steel stove and microwave.  I took a lot down off my cabinets and fridge, but left some things on the cabinets to hopefully draw the eye up towards our large ceiling height.

Both the bathrooms (and the laundry room) got the same neutral light gray paint and new flooring.

Our master lost the desk in the corner, no major updates in this room.

The kids bedrooms got new carpet and the same light tan paint color.  I also de-cluttered a lot!

The family room lost the extra chair and table, I moved the "coffee table" bench in between the two windows.

The entry way lost the large dresser and rug.

Dumpsters, Goodwill and beds in the family room

I am guessing you are not interested in seeing pictures of a huge red dumpster in my driveway.  No?  How about 5 trash bags of clothes from my closet that are going to Goodwill?  If that doesn't interest you, I could always show you how my washing machine spent the weekend in the living room or how my kids bedrooms are now in the living room.    EEK!

That and more has been my life for the last month as we try to get our house ready to sell, so forgive me if I haven't had much to say.  I am so happy that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

I might have shared this song before...but I listened to it this morning and thought I would share it again.  Whether or not my house sells or doesn't sell....today is my day and part of the fun is the climb, right?  I am going to go with Shania and say yes!  :)  Enjoy the climb today.  :)

Hello...

...is it me you're looking for?  (haha...that was a little Lionel Richie joke for my sister)

As you can tell, I took a little break from blogging.  We had a busy Christmas season and for a few weeks after I felt completely wiped out!  We also visited Todd's parents and my nieces in Michigan, which was a blast!!....but involved the whole packing, unpacking, and laundry fun of traveling.

Of course we baked lots of cookies and watched millions of Christmas movies!  We visited Bass Pro Shops...which honestly was not as thrilling as I had hoped.  Here were a few other things we did:

We went to Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner and enjoyed the lights downtown.  On the same night we mailed our letters to Santa!
We had lots of fun dressing up in Christmas clothes!

We went to Christmas at the Zoo and Evie was a Jr. Dolphin trainer, she LOVED it!

The kids worked hard and were in a Christmas musical with their classmates.  McKinley had a speaking part and he did great!

Each one of their classes decorated a themed Christmas tree for a contest as school.  McKinley's theme was Indiana and Evie's theme was Dr. Seuss.

We had lots of fun with Elf on the Shelf!
I did something I have always wanted to do and wrapped each kids presents in their own paper, I liked it and plan to keep on doing it every year.  Can you spot the gifts from Santa?

They were less than thrilled to have their pictures taken on Christmas Eve in their new pj's.

I hope you all had a blessed Christmas season!  We are toying with the idea of listing our house on the market....so I hope it's a busy 2012 full of change for us!
