Thanksgiving Weekend

Pin It Oh what adventures I have had this weekend! We started the weekend with Thanksgiving at my grandmother's house. After a short nap I headed out with my aunt to hit Toys R Us! Of course the deals are really not worth standing outside in the cold for two hours and in line to pay for almost an hour, but we got what we wanted and had fun! We also braved Walmart, Kohls, Target, Bath & Body Works, and Kmart...we are nuts. Truly.

Saturday was my birthday and we headed downtown to Old Spaghetti factory for dinner. We also dropped the kids letters to Santa in the mailbox and checked out the downtown Christmas decorations.

Today was more birthday celebrating with my family, lovely day!

I am so glad this set still fit Evie from last year! The picture is blurry, hopefully I can get a better one before the season is over.

Christmas Decorating

Pin It It's been several years since I have bought any new Christmas decorations for the house, aside from the new ornament here or there.

Not sure how I am liking this little arrangement, but this is what I came up with last night to fill my empty console table. The console table that used to be occupied by my nativity set, which I adored! Rest in peace beautiful wisemen and angel. Maybe a Little People nativity set would have survived better? I am thinking I will get a few pieces of Christmas scrapbook paper to put in the pictures frames on the wall.

Thanksgiving

Pin It First off...I have figured out how to upload pictures from my phone to my Flickr account! I feel so smart as generally, I am technology challenged. lol

Secondly, this week is Thanksgiving and I am excited! Frankly, I remember disliking the holiday as a child...the foods weren't my favorites and there were no presents. What was the big deal anyway? But now, I appreciate the holiday so much! A time to spend a meal with family appreciating the blessings in your life. Doesn't get much better than that. The simplicity (and I say that a little tonque in cheek because cooking that large of meal is not really a simple task) just resonates with me and the things I have been through during the past few years.

Here is my favorite Thanksgiving recipe, Praline Sweet Potato Bake.

One day I hope I can look back at this picture and laugh at the day Evie ruined a brand new Gymboree outfit with a tiny cup of hot chocolate from Panera. I did not laugh today.
